Anderson & Associates Managing Principal Yen-Yi Anderson joined the 2023 National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Lobby Day at the United States Capitol from May 22-23, 2023. The AAPI Heritage Month event brought leading nationwide Asian lawyers to Capitol Hill to meet with Congressional legislators and to advocate for the Asian American and Pacific Islander rights.
"Hopefully our time spent advocating for Asians and Asian Americans will lead to more rights for our population," Mrs. Anderson reflected.
Major topics for discussion with Congressional leaders were immigration, mental health, and real estate law. The Asian community has been dealing with instances of Asian hate, and NAPABA hopes to secure mental health support for trauma victims of these attacks. It also aims to support the rights of Asian immigrants, encouraging due process and humane treatment, including for asylum seekers and refugees. The group also lobbied in support of the AAPI federal judicial nominees.
Mrs. Anderson has regularly lobbied for Asian rights and in doing so continues to strengthen her relationships with various Asian American lawyers and community leaders in New York and around the country. She currently serves as the co-chair of the Solo and Small Firm Practice Committee at the Asian American Bar Association of New York.
The NAPABA is the nation's largest AAPI membership organization representing the interests of 60,000 attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students.
