Client Alert: $100 fee for asylum seekers

The USCIS announced a new set of fees for asylum seekers following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Act. Most notably, Form I-589 (Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal) has an $100 filing fee. Additionally, the person who files must pay the $100 fee if the filing “remains pending with USCIS for 365 days…  and each year thereafter that the application remains pending.”
